This cake was made for my son Charley's 3rd birthday! As you can see, the Buzz and Woody dolls were not created by me - on this occasion I cheated and used some of Charley's toys to add to the fun of the cake!
This is a 2 tier cake - the bottom tier being a 3 layer vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream. The top was baked in a cereal bowl to give the rounded effect.
The cakes were then covered first in a layer of buttercream, followed by a thin layer of white fondant. The top cake was then covered in blue fondant adding stars and the moon for Buzz to stand on. The bottom layer was covered with another layer of white then chocolate fondant added in to give the cowhide effect. I then added mini smarties around the bases to add some colour.
| As we had to make the cake last over a weekend of birthday parties, we had the top layer one day then I made a sherriffs badge and painted it with gold edible glitter for the top of the bottom cake, which we had for the next day! |
