| I made this cake for my daughter Jessica's birthday, she is going through the 'I LOVE BARBIE' phase so I was more than happy to give this cake a try!! |
| I made 3 sponge cakes in ascending sizes which were sandwiched with pink (naturally!!) buttercream and carved to create the base of the dress. |
| This was then covered with a layer of white fondant then built up further with a selection of different pinks and lilacs to give the layered effect. |
| I then went mad with glitter and created various sizes and colours of flowers for the main body of the dress. I then wrapped Barbie in clingfilm and carefully pushed her into the cake, building up a layer of fondant over her torso to create the bodice. |
| Jess was over the moon with her cake - even happier that she has ended up with another Barbie to add to her ever growing collection of dolls! Looks like I'll be making one for my niece too...!! |
