Jessie from Toy Story Cake!

After offering to make a birthday cake for Gabby as a birthday gift, her mummy decided she would really like Jessie from Toy Story!
I baked a standard rectangle cake and mixed half as chocolate so when you cut into the cake, there will be brown spots like Jessie's cowhide chaps!!!
The cake was halved, filled and covered in chocolate buttercream then covered in a base layer of white fondant.  I then mixed up the colours required for the floor boards and background then set about making and hand painting Jessie to layer on top.

The hat is hand stitched for effect and the sherriff badge is also fondant covered in edible gold glitter for a little glitz!

My Mum's 70th Birthday Cake!

My toughest project yet but I pulled it off!!!

I wanted to make something really special for my Mum's 70th birthday so Jamie suggested making their house then we came up with the idea of making all of us to sit outside it too!!
And so to work…..
I baked the cake in sections, 1 rectangle sponge for the base then 4 square sponges to build up and shape.  I used buttercream as filling and covered with some white fondant then built up layers of colour for the different elements of the house.
The family are all made from fondant and totally edible - not that Mum will want to eat anybody, she'll probably want to keep it forever!!!
A great success - Mum and Dad couldn't believe their eyes!!  The kids couldn't wait to eat themselves - a little bizarre maybe but hey!!

Ipswich Town shirt & football Cake!

Made for Linda's son who turned 30 who loves football and is an avid Ipswich Town supporter!
For the cake I used my largest rectangular tin and a pudding bowl for the football.
I carved the shaped of the shirt and sandwiched with buttercream then covered with hand mixed blue fondant.  I then added white lines by rolling the fondant to get a decent thickness then edged the cake in the same way.
The badge was cut from a section of white fondant which I then hand painted, adding detail for the horse.  I then piped the lettering and edging.  The other lettering was cut from rolled out fondant to give a smoother and cleaner finish.
The football was initially covered with a layer of white fondant then I cut out a selection of white hexagons and black pentagons to make up the distinctive pattern of the football.
