This order came from my advert in one of our local shops. Gentleman required a Cello cake for his daughter's 18th birthday.
For the cake I made a chocolate sponge and cut to shape, then filled and covered with buttercream before covering in a layer of white and chocolate fondant to give the wood grain effect for the main body of the cello.
Once the instrument was covered in the wood grain effect fondant, I went about recreating the detail using cocktail sticks covered in dark brown fondant for the string componants which were gently pushed through the top of the cello. The strings were made up of finely rolled fondant covered with gold edible glitter and gently wrapped around the top of the cello.
My customer returned the cake board and was full of compliments saying that the cake was delicious!! |
