I started off making the sushi pieces. The rice roll-up mixture was made with melted marshmallow, butter and rice crispies left to set in a greased tin. They were then rolled up with wine gums and covered in dark green fondant. The rest of the sushi was made using various shades of fondant to create fish-like slabs, egg and butterfly prawns. At the front of the block is pickled ginger and wasabi. The chopsticks and soy sauce bowl were also made from fondant and a little chocolate sauce!
The block was a chocolate sponge filled with chocolate buttercream then covered with chocolate fondant mixed with caramel brown fondant to form the wood effect base. This was then finished off with some black food colouring streaks. |
